Woodland Evangelical Church consists of two sister churches, one in Woodlands Road, Allestree and one at Parkview School, Oakwood.

We place a strong emphasis on teaching the Bible as the Word of God and relating it to the needs of people at the beginning of the 21^st Century.

The word "Evangelical" comes from the old word "evangel" meaning, in this case, the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ changing peoples' lives.

Our varied programmes are designed to appeal to all members of the community - from toddlers to senior citizens.

Originally, Woodlands Chapel was built in Allestree at the beginning of the 1970s and as the church membership grew it became necessary to expand the building at the end of the '70s.

The church membership continued to grow and as the activities have become more diverse it became necessary to undertake a major extension programme. This was completed in the Summer 2002 and we now have a main auditorium seating 250 people, another hall able to seat 50 people, five rooms downstairs, an extensive kitchen and a lift connecting the two floors.
