(Formerly
known as Tuesday Club)
The Club
is for young people in school years seven to nine (that's the first
three years of secondary school for all you 'old fogies' out there) and
we meet every week during term time for a variety of events. Most of
the group are not from church families and this year most of them are
girls!!
Our normal
club night evenings involve games and activities like 'dodgeball',
'bucketball', usually some creative 'craft' activity and a short 'God
Spot' to end. We also have occasional 'social nights' which have
included trip to Roller World, chip crawl, and as we move into the
summer possibilities for outdoor games and BBQ's.
Once a
year we also go away for a weekend - normally to Stathern
Lodge (a big farmhouse with an even bigger sports hall) that is
situated between Nottingham and Melton Mowbray. This year we went to
the Quinta Centre,
Shropshire instead.
As well as
providing enjoyable and fun activities, GIG aims to give the young
people who come an opportunity to find out about what Christians
believe and what the Bible has to say about life, the universe and
everything. This term we have been studying the life of
Joseph in the Old Testament to see what lessons we can learn from the
way he lived and related to God.
